We work in partnership with your family veterinarian, providing emergency and critical care for your pets.
Overview We treat primarily dogs and cats for emergencies including trauma, vomiting, diarrhea, breathing problems, toxicities, fever, infection, seizure, surgical emergencies, and others. We are always open, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including all holidays, so you can be assured that your pet will always have care available when you need it, no matter what time of day or night. Because our ICU is staffed with nurses 24 hours a day, and a doctor is always in the hospital, your pet is NEVER left alone in the hospital and is constantly monitored and receiving proper treatment and pain management throughout the night. Our specialized equipment and procedures include:
In-house laboratory analysis
Positive pressure ventilation
Oxygen therapy (Snyder Oxygen cages)
Central-line catheter placement
Wound care management
Emergency soft tissue surgery including GDV and foreign body removal (enterotomy and gastrotomy)
Surgical repair of soft tissue trauma including lacerations and degloving injuries
Chest tube placement and management
Orthopedic surgical consultation (see Specialty Services)
Intensive monitoring including electrocardiogram, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, central venous pressure
What To Expect When You Visit We understand that medical emergencies can be a frightening experience for your family--our goal is to make this stressful time as easy for you as possible. When you arrive, your pet will be evaluated immediately by one of our nurses to determine the severity of your emergency (critical vs. stable). Like in human hospitals, critical emergencies are always attended to first, therefore, if your pet is in stable condition you may be asked to wait in our comfortable waiting area.
Once your pet has been seen by an emergency veterinarian, diagnostic and therapeutic options for your pet with the associated costs will be discussed with you, allowing you to make the best decisions for your family about your pet's care. We understand and respect your financial limitations, whatever they may be, and provide as many payment options as we possibly can to help you manage costs, including cash, money orders, checks, VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. We also offer CareCredit as a financing option for those who qualify. To keep the cost of our services as low as possible, all services must be paid for at the time they are provided and we do not offer billing.
